iPhone 3G and 3GS battery replacement, flat rate $50 unless it's here for another reason then it's $20 additional.

If you read my battery overview you may have an idea about how to properly charge the Lithium-ion battery that's in the iPhone.

If you haven't read it, here's the summary....

Lithium-ion / Lithium Polymer batteries reach 100% of their capacity in 90 minutes of charging. Every minute after that incrementally and additively ruins the battery's ability to hold a charge at all. The damage from charging it longer than 90 minutes, called overcharging, is cumulative. Charging it for 3 1/2 hours adds two hours over overcharging to the battery. Charge for 8 hours (all night) and you will add 6 1/2 hours more of over charging to it.

Over charge it often enough and you will unbind the battery chemistry completely making it unable to hold much of a charge at all.

Since very people know this about Lithium batteries, they tend to use them as though they were the older Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cad) batteries where it was beneficial to completely discharge and then recharge them. Lithium batteries have the longest life when you discharge them down to 20% still charged and recharge them back up to 90% full.

Knowing this now, if you have overcharged your iPhone battery continually.. you know the "charge it overnight so it's good and ready for the next day" behavior, it may be time to replace your iPhone battery

*Especially* if your iPhone is already here for any other reason. If the LCD is cracked, or the upper glass is broken. If you sent or brought it in because of water exposure/damage and I was able to get running again, then it's practical to have me replace it while the labor is already paid for.

The battery replacement repair for the 3G or 3GS iPhone is a $50 flat rate total charge.

The battery replacement repair for the iPhone 4 is a $58 flat rate total charge.

A new battery for the 3g or the 3GS iPhone is just a $20 part if the iPhone is here for another reason.

A new battery for the iPhone 4 is just a $28 part if the iPhone is here for another reason.
