Sam Jones sent in his iPod from Cumming, Georgia.
He had a few things that needed attention to bring his iPod all way back to life.

One was he had a water damaged logic board that had all scroll wheel and compass control knocked out. This is the result of corrosion in the upper left quadrant of the front of the logic board with water likely getting in through the scroll wheel slit.

Also his 5th Gen Video iPod with a 60GB drive was just about 2 1/2 years old so he wanted the battery replaced *and* the faceplate was scratched (nothing like I've seen) and he wanted that replaced too.

The logic board was $90, the battery was $26 and the face plate was $10. Labor with return shipping was $40 so the total came to $166.

Fixed - Total cost $166.

Robby Leon called me from Ardsley, New York
where he lives. He has a 2nd Generation Nano that he... well here is his words,

"We spoke a couple of days ago. I recently dropped my Silver 4 GB Nano iPod in the sink, and now the click wheel doesn't work and the iPod says it is charging long after I remove the USB connection. Hopefully it cam be fixed."

He sent it with $40 in cash and clearly a prayer. I opened it up and discovered a sizable area of corrosion on the logic board that was creating the problem. I processed the corrosion out burnished the leads and cleaned things up.

Scroll Wheel works fine now. Notice we are looking at the "Settings" menu "About" this is well into the menus on the iPod which you can only see if you have a working scroll wheel and notice the charging is stabilized and we have a green battery.

Those are the two $20 bill he sent in payment.

Fixed - Total cost $40.

Stacey Urmann called from here in Santa Rosa, California.
She is the daughter of a previous client and she had a water mishap. They were out boating on Memorial Day weekend, it was here in 2008 we had rain on that Saturday. They boat took on water and through a fluke it migrated into a glove that contained her camera, RAZR cellphone and a 5th Gen video iPod that her son had borrowed from a friend of his named Luis Tapia Jr.

She had to replace the cellphone immediately because you can't live without a phone but brought the iPod to me hoping I could fix it and they could "return it" to Luis without ever having to tell him about the water problem.

The LCD was cloudy because of water trapped between the layers so that had to be replaced and the battery had failed so it was replaced, but I got the rest of it to all work perfectly.

The battery was $23, the LCD was $33 and labor was $40 for a total of $96

Notice all of Luis's music and videos are still on the device. He will never *know* the whole story.

Fixed - Total cost $96.
