John Caster called me from here in Santa Rosa
on Saturday November 8th about a problem he was having with his 6th Gen 80GB "classic" iPod. He was getting an error on his Windows computer that went to the effect of "there was an error in reading and dismounting the F:/ drive". This sounded like a drive problem and I wasn't sure that it would require a drive replacement. He brought it by and left it off with $40.

I opened the device up to get the drive out so I could run tests on it independent of the outer iPod 'mechanism'. I was able to get the drive recognized by a PC but nothing more. On a Macintosh I was able to use a drive utility to re-format the drive, then I moved it back to a Windows PC and format it there. Once the MSDOS FAT32 format was done I put it back into the iPod housing and was able to then format into a Windows/iTunes format.

Total time between when he dropped it off and I had it back to him was 3 hours.

The total cost for John to get his iPod back *and* working perfectly was $40

Fixed - Total cost $40.

John Delatorre called me from St Helena, California.
He had smashed the LCD on his Black 5th Generation video iPod when it slid around in his truck. He is someone that lives with his ipod so he needed to get it fixed right away on the same day. He chose Sunday the 8th of November 2008 and the rain followed him over the hill into town that day.

He left it off and 40 minutes later I had it ready for him. At no extra charge I replaced his severely scratched faceplate and the small white bezel at the bottom of his backplate that frames the docking port.

The LCD was $33 and labor was $40

Fixed - Total cost $73.

Gabriel Francisco is a fellow local to Santa Rosa
who is a dancer and a DJ with a global reputation, There is more on him here: http://www.gabrielfrancisco.com/

He has a 5th Gen video iPod and called to run down the fairly common problem of hearing from the left side earbud only. As I'v mentioned many times, this is always the result of dropping the iPod with the earbuds plugged in and driving the plug into the jack so far that snaps the right side positive connection.

The replacement part was $28 and labor was $40

Fixed - Total cost $68.
