Jessica Garrison lives here in Santa Rosa.
She had seen my sign about iPod repair and checked out my website. At some point later she had dropped her her new Pantech "Duo" (c810) phone (which AT & T sells as the Duo) in the toilet. (I never ask the question!) It is a clever phone that is both a slider for numbers and slide-away to reveal a full thumb keyboard, (although it would be better if it had raised and rounded cap tops for the letters).
This was Jessica's new and best phone she had owned to date and she desperately wanted it to work again. She brought it to me and left it off with my fee, $60 to work on it. If I make it work, I get to keep the whole $60, if not the customer gets the phone back and a $30 refund for not being successful.
I took her phone apart, and it had serious lead oxide corrosion. I t really looked bad and I had serious doubt that it would ever work again but I didn't give up. Ultimately I was able to get it to work completely. These are some shots of the interior and the phone taken apart.
These are shots of it working again.
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Amanda Fellers called me from Oak Forest, Illinois
about her water exposed 5th Gen video iPod. She dropped in a bucket of water for a few seconds on February 27th, which was about a week earlier. I reassured her I was really good at water immersion work. While her iPod was here, I mentioned it would also be practical to replace the battery.
It arrived a few days later on a Thursday and I had it working by later that night.
The battery was $19 and labor/return of $40.
Fixed - Total cost $59.

Andrew Fox called me from Homewood, Illinois
while on the way out the door to discuss his 3rd Gen iPod. It wasn't working and what the problem was never really became clear. I had him send it in so I could actually get into its problem and correct them. This 3rd Gen had a 10GB drive, the smallest Apple sent them out with and while I wasn't sure about saving it Drew was emphatic. He had taken such astonishing care of it (very obsessive in this way) that it had a strong degree of sentimentality for him because he had taken such good care of it.
It arrived with a drive problem which I corrected and then recommended a new battery, (after 4 years it was definitely time).
The battery was $16 and labor/return shipping was $40 which he paid using PayPal.
Fixed - Total cost $56.
