One day a call came in. Before:
After doing for as long as I have I can recognize most of the area codes in the country. This one was from 718 which is New York. I picked up the call and it was Alethea Brown. She actually now lives here in Santa Rosa and was calling from her mobile phone.

She had dropped her Apple MacBook Pro 17" Al that morning and badly smashed the LCD screen. We chatted and considering the age of the machine I steered her toward something made in this decade which she actually didn't the money for.

I charge $125 to work on laptops and told her I could replace the LCD and would guide her in which replacement part to bring me with the laptop.

A few days later I got the machine and replacement LCD. What I thought might take 3 hours rolled out into a whole day. Her case was badly racked from other drops and I had to pull the metal back into shape.

I ultimately got it done and she was really happy. Total price to get back on it's feet was $125 for me and the replacement screen wound up being also about $125

After:

Fixed - Total cost $125.

Dan Smerken who lives in Olympia, Washington before:
has sent devices to me several times. Ipods mostly, but there was also his phone with an LCD problem.

This time he sent me his 5th Gen video iPod to have the LCD replaced. He sent it and then sent the funds through PayPal so I was covered by the time it arrived.

I got here on Monday March 16th and was fixed and on its way the next day. The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40

After:

Fixed - Total cost $73.

Joshua Schaefer found me on the internet and then called from Punta Gordo, Florida.
The problem he was having turned on his iPod charging and the battery holding a charge. ALSO he is someone that didn't have a current copy the music that is on his iPod and needed the music extracted and parked so he could add it back to his iTunes Library when it got home again.

He sent it in, his battery was bad, but there was also damage to the logic board and though the device seemed to charge the battery, the 'charge state' wouldn't revert back when the charge cycle was complete. It's more an irritation than a fault.

I replaced the battery and extracted the 2100 songs, then placed them on the drive so H he could add them back when the iPod arrived home.

The battery was $19 and labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $59.
