Grazina Wade sent her iPod in from Sedona, Arizona
The problem she was describing might best be called 'data corruption'.
I made my routine examination of the headphone and docking ports to make sure they working correctly and found no problems.
Then I went on to run some disk utilities to examine the drive, pack the files and check its health. Once I was satisified with the general health of the drive, I added 12 songs to it and checked them out on the system.
Everything was working correctly again.
Total cost to Grazina... $40
Also she thinks my name is "Mark Walburg". This sometime happens when I'm out woth my "Entourage" but I don't have the Boston accent ;)

Amber Iwata call from Rohnert Park
a local call and needed the LCD in her
video iPod replaced. She first got a hold of me when she was a student at
University of California at Santa Barbara but waited until visiting her
parents en route to France for a few months.
Simple surgery, I do it several times a week. She came back an hour after dropping it off and here she is with her working iPod again.
Fixed - Total cost $73.

Stephen Rogers sent his iPod in from Columbus, Ohio
He had diagnosed the problem as a "scroll wheel" replacement. And he did a problem with his scroll wheel but it was because his logic board wasn't accepting input from it.
I took it apart to make my examination. The ribbon connector jack that holds the the scroll wheel connection ribbon in place had actually ripped from the logic board.
I've seen this twice before, it's very rare, also not repairable. The logic board needs to be replaced since that connection jack can't be soldered back.
I charged Stephen $35 for the 4th Gen logic board plus the $40 labor/return shipping brought
the total cost of the repair to $75
Fixed - Total cost..$75.
