I got a phone call from Annette Church of Longview, Washington.
She was... frantic. She dropped her iPhone in water and try as she might, couldn't get it working ever again.

She found me on the internet doing a search of iPhone dropped in water and I was near the top.

The phone arrive with a check for $40 a couple of days later. She kept her sim.

Apple has devised a way to tell if an iPhone or an iPod Touch has had water exposure. They are using the 'dot' method that all other cell phone makers use. In the iPhone there is an indicator near the SIM tray by the headphone jack. It is a White dot unless it has been exposed to water then it turns Black.

Notice that Annette's is Black. She would not be able to trade this in or make a warranty claim because of the Black Dot.

However I was able to get it all working again. Annette was quite surprised when I emailed her to ask for the 4 digit password/lock code because she knew it meant I had a breakthrough. Notice there is a GREAT looking SCREEN and look at the iTunes shots. They show there is perfect data connectivity. iTunes recognizes the iPhone and shows the memory composition. We also have the battery charge cycle working, notice the green battery indicator.

The other shots show the different functions of the iPhone working.

Annette sent her $500 iPhone down to me with a check for $40... and a prayer. Her baby is coming home alive and it was just $40.

Fixed - Total cost..$40.
