In the past she had dropped her iPod Touch in water. This was that story,
"On Monday, I had a facebook funeral for my beloved Itouch which I inadvertently murdered, or so I thought!
I was simply washing my hands and carelessly placed it on the sink and reached for a towel. A simple move, but when I turned around, my Itouch, was in the bottom of the sink in the water. Quickly!!!! I grabbed it and wrapped it in the towel, and then shook it for the water to come out. I turned it on, but the screen was white and blank and then shut off, which is when I thought it was dead and had gave up the ghost. Overnight, I stood it upright, so any water could come out and then yesterday, I placed it on the charger all day. Last night, I returned home and went to check on the victim, my Touch. At first, it looked like it was ok, had my main screen, BUT as I attempted to "slide to unlock", it would not slide. Now all I have is the remains of what was. SMH.... I have been looking for answers on the net and stumbled across your very informative site.
The facebook funeral was a blast, everyone came on to give me their condolences on the loss of my beloved Itouch. Others, shared with me their own hard luck stories about their Iphones and Itouches (so I will be referring them to you).
I do not know what awaits me this evening. Will the "slide to unlock" work or will I be reaching out to you for assistance? We shall see tomorrow. In the meantime, what do you think the probability of it working tonight is and do you think I should place it back on the charger today?
I believe in the "rescurrection" so maybe it will rise from the dead or you will be able to bring it back. :-)"
I got her Touch working again. This time the iPod Touch with a problem was her son. The story was,
"My 10-year son allowed his cousin to Jailbreak his Itouch and now it does not work at all. "
I had her send it in with $60 so I could apply the set of techniques I have to nurse the restore and bring the Touch back to life. A day after it arrived I had it working again... completely... including the WiFi and sent her a message telling her so. I got this message back which also included discussion of a broken laptop LCD screen on her daughter's MacBook.
"Get out!!!! That is fantastic. I will put a nice little bow on it and give it back to that Joker for the holidays. Hmm, thats tacky, maybe this weekend so he can leave me alone. Is it wiped clean or is his stuff still on it?
For the Mac, I will get the serial # from her"
The total cost to get her son back a working Touch 3rd Gen was $60, way cheaper than buying a new one.
Fixed - Total cost $60.
