Nano 3rd Generation

Apple changed the form factor of the Nano considerably with the 3rd Gen version. The device looks like a book of matches but slightly taller, wider and thicker.

The LCD has a landscape orientation and it plays videos on its color LCD screen.

This model iPod is the most serviceable version Apple made. Unlike most other Nano models it has removable backplate like the hard drive models and Nano 1st Gen. That allows for a lot more repair possibility. The 3rd gen I am able to make work again in 7 out 8 instances when it's been sent for water immersion. The LCD can be replaced if cracked.

I can even replace the battery if you find it really necessary. Again all Nano models are made with the battery soldered in and Apple has no expectation that will ever be replaced v because by the time when that deemed likely they imagine you will want a new one. I'm not sue i can fault their thinking, provided you don't get a nano 6th Gen which I think is just crap. If you have a 3rd Gen and must have the battery replaced because of some highly sentimental reason, I am capable of doing it but it is laborious and pricey.

In all, I like the 3rd gen Nano.
