Nicole Vandersal called from San Francisco, California
to discuss her 5th Generation iPod that had hearing from just one side (the right side).
She wanted to make sure she understood everything about sending it in for repair.
It arrived a few days later and I made an additional discovery which was her faceplate
bad been damaged probably from the same fall that knocked out the right side hearing.
Though Nicole has sent funds for insured mail delivery back I actually applied the
funds to the Faceplate cost so I could get it back to her right away.
Fixed - Total cost $73.

J Quintana called from Chico, California
her son was going to europe in a few days and discovered he was unable to see the screen on his Nano 1st Generation iPod and wanted it replaced and back hopefully before he left.
I got it 2 days later and was able to get the repair done and ship it back the next day.
It arrived well in advance of his departure.
It was $27 for the LCd and $40 labor/return shipping.
2 shots before and after
Fixed - Total cost $67.

Randy Bloodworth called from Tifton, Georgia
after he noticed I had helped other water immersion iPods in his area. His 6th Gen video iPod with 80GB drive arrived a few days later.
There was fairly severe corrosion on the logic board but I was able to get the Logic board working again. I was not able to get the hard drive working though.
I presented him with the idea of replacing the failed 80GB hard with a 30GB version which would cost just $60 instead of the $100 the 80GB would. Like many Apple customers he felt convinced that carrying *all* of itunes library at all times was *THE* way to own an iPod. Very few people realize that a 30GB drive holds about 50 times more videos and music than you can play in a single battery charge and to switch out files on an iPod takes just 6 seconds when you go to charge it. Apple makes bank whenever they get someone to fall for the high capacity drive. No one legitimately needs a drive larger than 30GB (as of 2008).
Randy's repair was $100 for the drive and $40 labor/return shipping.
Fixed - Total cost $140.
