Kim Garrett found me on the internet and called me to confer on her problem.
Her daughter's 2nd Gen 16GB Touch had been put through a complete wash cycle of their fron loading clothes washer. They live in Melbourne Florida (32941) and the call was to see if I was for real... this happens often enough and to determine the likelihood of success at a save. Considering the iPod had cost them $300 it take too much thinking about whether the $60 and just $30 if it didn't work out would be well spent.
It arrived a few days later and I went through it. I was able to get all aspects working again but I needed to replace two parts. The LCD screen had a lot water trapped in the layers. There was no way her daughter was going find the iPod useful with display so distractingly jacked.
I mention this from time to time... how well charged the battery is pre-immersion is a big factor in whether the battery will need to be replaced and if the a well charged battery will make the LCD's positive backlight connection operate as an anode and de-plate or induce corrosion at the LCD jack to the logic board. In their case the battery also needed to be replaced.
The battery was $19, the LCD was $43 and labor/return shipping was $60
Fixed - Total cost $122.

Galdys Abrica and her husband Fabricio called on Sunday afternoon from here in Santa Rosa California (95401).
They had put her 8GB 2nd iPod Touch through the washing machine. It had been several days. During that time, Fabricio had decided he would take it apart and try to make it work. This is always tricky, Apple designs these things so they look good and very difficult to work on without damaging something on the way in.
In Fabricio's case he cracked the LCD screen then they found me. They brought it over and left it off with my $60 labor fee. I went through the Touch replacing out and testing, reworking and then moving to the next aspect. By 5pm I had it finished with all aspects working perfectly again. Notice the WiFi connection.
The LCD did need to be replaced, that was $43 and labor was $60 but for $103 they got it back with all of her files on it still working.
Fixed - Total cost $103.
