Logic Board Repair... well really replacement
To keep iPods small enough to fit in your hand, Apple logic boards have surface solder mounted parts that don't lend themselves to actual repair.
In order to determine which discreet part has failed you would have to
de-solder it and test it 'out of circuit' to see if it had failed.
So instead of repair, it requires they be replaced.
The biggest clue that you are in for a logic replacement is turning on your iPod and having the "Starry Eyed Sad Face".
I have never had to replace a logic board that didn't have the "Starry Eyed Sad Face" on the screen. In a very few cases, the origin of the Starry Face was a drive corruption of some sort and I was able to put things right.
Below we have outlined the costs involved in logic board replacement.
They are all "working pulls", meaning they have been salvaged from less
fortunate cadaver donor iPods for transplant into your iPod. They have
been tested and work perfectly.
The labor charge includes several things. It includes:
- Data Recovery - backing up all your data, music and video files incase you don't still have them and placing in safe for access back on the iPod when finished
- opening up your ipod and taking all the parts from your present iPod and putting them back together on your new logic board, and putting your iPod back together.
- moving your files back to the iPod if needed
- Shipping your finished iPod back to you.
