Bad iPhone 3G/3GS Power On/Off switch, or ring/vibrate switch or volume switch *or even* faulty headphone jack!I can fix it!
The Power On/Off switch, or ring/vibrate switch or volume switch *or even* faulty headphone jack are all the same part
I have a reputation for repairing iPhones that have been dropped in water. I also repair non-water immersed iPhones. The most common repair is for a cracked upper glass but I also do many other types of repairs.
When I repair your iPhone, all of your music, video and photos will still be there afterward. So will your contacts and calendaring and apps
The iPhone 3G and 3Gs models are now getting a bit old. There is a tendency for some of the 'mechanical' parts to wear and wear out. You may find this hard to believe but there is sizable difference in how girls and guys treat their iPhones.
Women treat them with delicate respect, where guys force and abuse them. I can always tell a guy phone from a girl phone. The "Guy" phone will have a poorly working power On/Off button. The button will have no 'travel' (button push movement) or be frozen in the 'down' position. This happens from pressing the button really hard with great velocity. It's as though guys think, "If I press it hard, the slide to unlock screen will come up faster." It doesn't!! You just wear out very necessary parts much, much sooner.
In the 3G and 3GS there is one complete wire harness that manages the connections to the logic board for...
1) headphone jack
2) power On/Off
3) ring vibrate paddle switch
4) volume up/down rocker switch
If any of those have a problem they have to all be replaced at the same time. This repair takes two painstaking hours to effect, because the new ribbon connection has to be installed behind the buttons and the entire harness is really complex to get in and seated correctly.
Often if the wire harness needs to be replaced the plastic paddle switch for the Ring/Vibrate is broken or snapped off. Added $4 if you want a new at the time of installation.
It is also sometimes practical to notice what the condition of your battery is. It's a good time to replace the battery when this is being done because they both tend to wear out at the same rate. look at the "plus new battery" column for pricing that includes battery.
Pricing for all these aspects is in the table below.
