I got an email from Brently Beerline in Oakland California (94601)
on August 3rd 2008 reading, "Have a 2G nano, wife decided to listen to it in the bath, fell in, kaput.
Opened, tried to dry it out. What are the chances that it will come back? It had been powering up the backlight but the screen appeared to be toasted. What are some of the prices that might be involved in a repair like this?
regards
Brentley Beerline"
I replied with the instructions on how to ship it in and it arrived on the 7th. I was able to get it all back working again, but it did require a new LCD. Brently had made the job far harder by his attempt because he really thrashed the scroll wheel control ribbon.
The new LCD for her 2nd Gen Nano was was $27 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $67.

Kevin Foster from Nashville Tennessee (37201)
read about me on the internet, the Jason Rockhill story (also from Nashville) seemed to play a part.
Kevin dropped his iPod in water and needed me to take a look at it and put it back on its feet.
Ultimately I had to replace the hard drive and it was the right time to replace the battery so we did that too.
The drive was $60, the battery which needed replacing anyway was $23 and
labor/return shipping was $40.
On Monday August 16th I got this message from him,
"Hey, I just received my ipod back today and it is working perfectly. Thank you for fixing it and helping me out! I really appreciate it!
Kevin Foster"
Fixed - Total cost $123.

Barbara Tokes called me from Concord California (94518)
one day to discuss her 5th Generation video iPod that had had "an argument" with her water bottle in her gym bag.
She had found me on the internet. I sent her a message outlining what needed to be done. The iPod arrived a few days later.
I was able to get all the parts of it working again except the battery. The batteries in these carry a charge and that acts as an anode which promotes corrosion on the battery leads.
With a new battery in it, the iPod worked perfectly again.
The battery was $23 and labor/return shipping was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $63.
