Leann Westgard called from Westby, Montana (59275)
to discuss her Nano 2nd Gen which had a smashed LCD because something dropped on it.
She is a previous customer though the last time she had me fix her 5th Gen video iPod.
The Nano arrived a few days later. I had it repaired and sent back to her that afternoon.
The LCD was $27 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $67.

Trish Chialastri emailed me on August 4th from Flourtown, Pennsylvania (19031)
saying,
"Frank
I washed my son's brand new 80 GB I pod in my washer. Of course, it is not working. I have it outside in the air to dry and was also told to put it in a bag of dry rice. Anyway, the screen appears to have some water under it the size of a dime. Suggestions and can you fix it.
Thanks
Trish Chialastri"
I emailed her back about my work and instructions to send it in. Also I need to say this, the rice immersion as a desiccant is a continually perpetuated urban myth. It doesn't solve a problem and leads people to delay getting the device helped professionally. One guy with a momentary outer water exposure made video he presented on YouTube. The iPod's water exposure was so slight, his leading people to the belief that rice immersion will help is really fraudulent.
Her 6th Gen arrived a few days later. After working on it I was able to get everything working except the LCD (famous in recent iPod models for having the backlight trace stop working because that 'trace' on the ribbon connection, positively charged attracts corrosion build up) and I wasn't able to get the hard drive to work again.
I left Trish with a few options. She elected to have me replace the
80GB drive with a 30GB version for $60. (No one will know,
the outside of the case still reads 80GB) and to get a new LCD for it.
Fixed - Total cost $100.

Noah Andrus lives here in Santa Rosa, California (95403).
He's come by before and I've helped him with his iPod. At least once he's come by after
5:30pm which meant he was offered a glass of wine. It's always wine time here at 5:15pm,
remember I'm also a winemaker .
This time his girl friend while washing dishes had splashed water on his video iPod
while leaving it on the counter working. A couple of days had gone by before he got a
hold of me.
He brought it by on August 13th 2008 while I was getting ready to do a bit of house
painting. By later that I had iPod repaired. It needed a new battery and for cosmetic
reasons, Noah asked to have the backplate replaced with a new one.
The battery was $23, the backplate was $10 and labor was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.
