Paul Oliver of Buffalo, New York contacted me by phone.

He had seen the website and was surprised that anyone had experience at dealing with water immersion cases for iPods. We discussed his specifics, that his daughter's Nano 2nd Gen had been dropped in the toilet 6 weeks earlier.
He wondered if there was any hope. I mentioned that, "a considerable time had passed since it wen into the toilet. Usually I can bring things back if it's been 3 weeks or less but i'd had a couple of recent cases where someone had sent in the iPod stating it had been 3 weeks just to get me to take on their case. In both of thoses instances almost 5 months had passed. and I was able to get them to work."
He sent her iPod in with a $40 check.
I used all of my tricks but this was not a successful case. There was serious corrosion in the area where power is regulated on the board that was never able to be remediated.
Paul's iPod was sent back with a $20 refund

Leann Westgard of Westby, Montana is a friend of Charlie Archer
who is one of my previous clients. Charlie sent me two 4th Gen iPods, one that had gone through a fire to build one good iPod from to gift to the son of the family whose house had burned destroying one of the two iPods.
Leann sent me an email one morning but before I had a chance to get to it in my morning email she called. She has a 30GB video iPod and went on to describe its problem free use until until a day earlier when while watching a video, the screen showed the starry eyed sad face. She described things more and it became clear what we had was a failed logic board. She would also need her battery replaced and I agreed to replace her faceplate with one far less scratched up at no charge.
I had her send it in and she sent in the payment using PayPal.
It arrived a few days later and it was just as I thought, drive was good logic board was bad. I rebuilt it with a new logic board, a new battery *and* and complete face lift, changing her White iPod into a scratchless Black one.
It was $90 for the logic board, $23 for the battery, $40 labor/return shipping and the facelift was no charge.
Fixed - Total cost $153.

Justin Reynolds called from Napa, California
(about 30 miles from here) to
explain that the head phones in his 4th Gen Black and White iPod seemed to
cut out or dropped out altogether particularly on "vocal parts". I had never heard of this
specific problem but it did seem to be isolated to the headphone module so
he brought his iPod in. I replaced the headphone module and Justin also
wanted me to replace the battery as long as I was already doing the repair.
The headphone module was $10, the battery was $15 and the labor was $65.
Here's Justin picking it up.
Fixed - Total cost..$90.
