William Holder emailed on August 9th from Yonkers, New York (10701).
The message read
"Hello,
I have a 30gb Ipod video...I attempted to replace the battery, but when I went to re-attach the battery power connector, the clip on the circuit board broke off. I assume I'm going to need a new board
for the unit.
Pls advise as to how to return, and estimated cost of repair. It is not a rush job.."
I sent him back the information and he sent his iPod in. I received it on August 14th and had it repaired and back on the way to him the next day.
The logic board was $90 and labor was $40
He sent a message after he received it back again.
"Got it back and it works great! Thanks! Bill""
Fixed - Total cost $130.

Shawna Smith from Dallas, Georgia (30132)
noticed my website and sent me this message on August 4th 2008,
"My ipod nano went through the wash today. I saw your information on line and thought I would write to find out if you still fix these, price, etc. Please email me back with info and such."
I sent her back a message on my recent Nano 3rd Gen water case. I had been able to make about 7 out of 8 work recently.
She sent it in on the 12th and it arrived on the August 15th. I consider that quite a delay between discussion and action in a process that is time critical. There was a place beneath the face plate where water clearly had been pooled. The backlight trace on the LCD had corroded away and the data was painting dark black on dark grey screen and the LCD needed to be replaced.
Once that was done, it was all there, I was able tot get the iPod working, the battery was able to hold a charge, the re-charge circuit on the logic board worked, the USB data connection worked, the earbuds worked and all of her songs were still there.
The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.

Charam Noghrestchi called me from his work at Akamai Technologies in San Mateo,
California (94401) one morning. He described the problem he was having with his 4th Gen Photo iPod.
He had been able to discern correctly that his hard drive was fine and it was the
logic board her was having trouble with. He sent it in with a check for $60 to cover
the replacement logic board, labor and return shipping.
I repaired his iPod the day it arrived and he had back two days later.
Fixed - Total cost $60.
