Laura Key called from Springfield, Missouri
one day to discuss her daughter's 3rd Generation Nano. Somehow it had become immersed in water and wouldn't work.
I was able to get her daughter Lydia's Turquoise iPod working with no additional parts
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Shannon Hepner called me from Lexington, Virginia.
Her iPod had sat in a pool of diet coke for several minutes. She was able to seem to get it to work but the LCD didn't work. It's backlight wouldn't turn on, which is standard in an immersion case with the Nano 3rd Gen. The backlight trace seems attract corrosion because it remains positively charged by the battery and it acts like and anode in electroplating. The LCD image was also in reverse.
I cleaned up the interior and then replaced the LCD. I was able to get the image to also read correctly and save all of her songs.
The LCD was $33 and labor was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.

Jennifer Grosstick from Waddell, Arizona
got a hold of me by email about her husband Keith's iPod. The note read
"I have an ipod classic that needs repair. My husband dropped it in water. I would like to send it in and have it looked at. Should I send in a check with the ipod or do you look at it first and give me a price and if so how much do I send in initially? The ipod does not power up at all.
Thanks,
Jennifer Grosstick"
I sent her instructions and it arrived here a few days later. I was able to get everything except the logic board working. The logic board replacement was $100 and labor was $40.
Notice in the photo the space taken up by "other". The "other" is the original music files that are still on the drive. Apple in the 6th Gen has written into the basecode for the device that files on the drive will only be recognized the same logic board that formatted the drive originally. So unless the is some usefulness from the original logic board I can't run a data extraction.
Fixed - Total cost $60.
