Lester Carcamo emailed me from Bakersfield California (93305) about his iPod.
I didn't know it was Bakersfield as we were emailing back and forth. I somehow always imagine that I am writing to someone who is local.
It was unclear which model we were discussing so I sent him a link to page off the Apple site so he make that determination.
"Thanks for your prompt reply. My Ipod is a 5th generation. The main problem is the center button that feels flush with the body and need to press hard."
I wrote back,
"I understand the problem and I've fixed this many times. There is a pad below the button that has shifted so the button top is recessed in further you imagine it ever could.
That I can correct within my $40 labor charge but it's also time to replace the battery.
If it's a 30GB drive that's a $16 part
If it's a 60GB or 80GB drive then it's $23"
He sent in a 30GB model and $56. I took it apart and corrected the shifting pad problem, replaced the battery and had it back onthe way to him later the same afternoon.
Works terifically again, files are safe,
Fixed - Total cost $56.

She broke her upper glass and needed the soonest I appoinment she could get. I set it fro 30 minutes later. I had her phone back working perfectly for after she got back from meeting a friend for coffee. All of her files were still safely on it and it looked great. Total cost... $49
