Chris White called me from here in Santa Rosa California (95404).
He lives over in the Proctor Terrace area and works for CalFire which we used to call the California Division of Forestry.
The problem he had was an iPhone 3G with a Home Key that was mis-behaving. There are up to 4 reasons for the Home Key not working in that model of phone ranging up to needing the docking module. In his case, the problem was the metal dome of the switch had shifted so it would make contact and short the two concentric rings below properly closing the circuit.
I took it apart and built it back better than Apple's sub-contractor FoxConn had originally.
Total cost for his like better than new iPhone was $60
I got a call from Billie Kaye in Crescent City California (95531).
She has a store there that sells party needs. Her iPhone 3GS had a problem with it's LCD screen. After a water exposure The LCD's backlight stopped working. this is not un-common in a water case. The battery in the phone discharges by electrically arcing between the positive and negative connections of the LCD backlight on the logic board.
In fact her iPhone had little to no water damage, but I still had to replace the LCD.
The parts was $45, (which she sent by PayPal) and labor/return shipping was $60
Works perfectly now.
The total cost for this repair - $105
Jerry Enni called me from Stockton California (95204) about his 5th Gen video iPod. He described perfectly a cracked screen and this is something I repair all the time on that model.
I sent my follow up email instructing him how to mail it in. He sent the $63 dollar repair fee via PayPal and the device in the mail the next day.
It arrived two days later. I go the repair done the day it arrived and it was on the way back the next day.
The LCD was $23 and labor/return shipping was $40
