I got this message from Colleen Marubayashi of Los Alamitos California (90720).
"Hi Frank,
I'm sending you this email to let you know my son's iPod will be on its way to you this afternoon from Southern California. It was dropped in a bucket of mop water. We dried it out using the rice technique hoping that he got it out of the water fast enough. The screen works for a minute or two, then goes dark. Now we are sending it to you with the hope you will be able to fix it. I am including a check for $65 dollars to cover your fee plus priority return shipping.
Sincerely,
Colleen Marubayashi"
It is a Touch 2nd Gen and got a here a couple of days later. I needed it for three days to get it all working again, but I got it working perfectly... including the WiFi.
Total cost for this was $60
Brian Rawls sent me his green 4th iPod Nano from Palatine Illinois (60067) with a letter of explanation as to what the problem was. It read,
" Last week I found my iPod in the washing machine and immediately tried turning it on and plugging it in. Once I realized it wasn't working, I stuck it in a bag of rice and waited at least 5 days before I tried turning it on again.Still no response from the iPod. Thank you for attempting to fix it."
I actually had the here and was working on it for 8 days before I got it working again. I couldn't get its LCd to work because of Brian's attempts to charge it, but I got it working again perfectly once the LCD was replaced.
The part was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40
