emailed me stating, "Hi - I found your website through Google and was wondering if you could
repair the following problem.
I bought an 8 GB nano back in March, and primarily use it while running. I always keep it in
a sports wrap, and a few weeks ago, the ipod started skipping, randomly pausing, etc. Then two
weeks ago it stopped working altogether. I took it in to the Genius Bar at the local Apple store,
and the tech pointed out that there is some corrosion in the port on the bottom of the device. He
said that this wouldn't be covered by Apple's warranty and suggested I just buy a new ipod.
This is my second ipod (the first was stolen), and I thought I'd check and see if there was any
way to repair it before buying another mp3 player."
I told him to send it in and I would see what I could do. It arrived a few days later and I went
to work on his $250 Nano 2nd Gen. It came through surgery smoothly and was sent back with a clean
bill of health.
As you can see I got his iPod working perfectly. The battery holds a good charge and the scroll
wheel and screen work perfectly. Total cost for Dave... $40 to get his $250 iPod back and working
again.
Fixed - Total cost $40.
