Like many other cases I've worked on Al Lopez who lives in Sonoma, California
put his Nano 3rd Gen through the washer. I get water immersion from all over, but this one was local.
I was able to get it working again 2 days later, the total cost was $40
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Carolyn Hershey called me from New Paltz, New York
to discuss her 5th Gen video iPod. It had the starry eyed sad face on it. "It simply stopped working mid-song and the sad face came up. I tried ll the recommended troubleshooting fixes. We took it to the Apple store and they said there was something wrong with the hard drive and they would give me 10% credit towards a new one. It's been sitting in my desk for a while. I just heard about your service and I hope you can fix it."
As it happens her drive had suffered permanent mechanical failure and needed to be replaced.
The drive was $60 and labor/return shipping was $40. So for $100 which is no where near the $250 a new
iPod would cost she got hers back working perfectly.
Fixed - Total cost $100.

Irene Alibayof sent in her son's 1st Gen iPod Touch from Great Neck, New York.
Like many other iPods I see, it had been water immersed. I have about an 90% success rate on Touch 1st Gens that have been dropped in water or put through the washing machine, but it requires that I take every piece of them apart to work on it and they are built by Apple with the intention they never be repaired so it's arduous.
By the next day I had it working again perfectly. Total cost was $60. A few days
later Irene's husband called after they received it back and he wondered if I had gotten
it working again. The I realized it... he doesn't know how to use an iPod at all much less a
Touch model so the father had zero experience in turning it on even.
Fixed - Total cost $60.
