Chris Mc Carthy called and left a message for me about his iPhone
while I was out one weekend wine tasting. Here in Sonoma County two weekends that are three day events that are three day events. This is actually for the wineries in basically the northern half of the county. For $30 on Friday you get a special wristband that allows you to go to about 280 wineries to do barrel tasting (which is the sampling of still unfinished wine). The wineries do this to encourage people to buy the wine will eventually be bottled from the barrel "in the present" for delivery in the future. They will typically give a 20 to 40% discount if you commit and purchase basically on the spot.
Okay back to Chris... he's a cool guy that lives in Marin County, Fairfax (94930) actually. He brought his iPhone into the Mac Store in San Rafael for repair and they told him about me. He had a broken upper glass on his 3G model. We set appointment and for the next day and it took about an hour to repair.
The upper glass/digitizer was $15 and labor was $60, I'm pretty sure he left me a good Yelp review.
Fixed - Total cost $75.

I got a call form James Williams while he was in Vallejo California (94558) visiting his father.
He lives and works in Napa at a heating and air conditioning business. He was definitely in distress on the phone. It seems he dropped his iPhone on the walkway around a swimming pool and smashed the glass. But that wasn't all, then it bounced smashed into the deep end of the pool.
So we have two problems to manage,
1) can I make it work after the water incident?
2) if I can make it work then replace the upper glass/digitizer so it's like new too.
This took longer than normal, water cases always do. And James was hovering like an expectant father. I was able to get the iPhone to work faithfully again and then went on to replace the upper glass.
The part was $15 and labor was $60 it was actually quite cheap to get his iPhone back with all of his "not recently backed up contacts".
Fixed - Total cost $75.
