Lisa Locke emailed me from Wichita, Kansas
discussing her water immersed Nano 2nd Generation. She sent it.
I wasn't able to make it work completely correctly. The fact is all parts of it work except the scroll wheel. The data connection is good and the battery will charge.
She can use the iPod with any of a number of remote controls that clip into the bottom or a any stereo that the iPod can plug becoming a sound source because these types of devices have their own controls through the docking port.
Since I wasn't able to make it work completely and perfectly, Lisa is entitled to the $20 refund of the 440 labor charge, which I always pay in cash.

Vanessa Espinosa sent in two iPods from Larkspur, California
not far away in Marin County. One was a 3rd Gen belonging to a co-worker that needed the battery replaced, which they sent along. Her own iPod was a 4th Generation that didn't work.
Her co-workers also had other problems, once the battery was replaced the system still wouldn't work. I analyzed it down and it needed the scroll wheel replaced in order to make it work. Switched out the part, installed the battery and the music files were intact, it plays perfectly.
Vanessa's needed a new hard drive. Her 4th Generation iPod was one of the 20GB models that Hewlett Packard bought from Apple when they were trying to expand their "presence" in hand held multi-media. This was a bad move for HP because they realized they were going to have to put together a whole staff for the device since their deal with Apple did not include Apple providing technical support. You see, HP wanted to get the buyers to call them so they would think about HP for the desktop and laptop needs. If the buyer called Apple they might think about getting a Macintosh with a real operating instead of the joke that Windows is. Anyway HP stopped selling iPod about 9 months later and never provided support for them. That year was 2005 when iPods were *the* christmas gift.
Anyway, Vanessa needed a new drive in her system, the drive was $30 and labor (with return shipping) was $40.
I sold her co-worker the scroll wheel and another logic board for $10, the labor was also $40 so he paid $50 total.
Vanessa PayPal'd over the money and they are both happy.
Fixed - Total cost $120.

David Mota works for the Geek Squad of Best Buy on Santa Rosa Avenue here in Santa Rosa
He found my website using Google and needed to get his headphone jack/wire harness replaced in his 60GB Black video iPod.
He showed up to 9am and I told I'd call to let him call him within 20 minutes to let him know when it would be ready. I knew he had to
report to work about 5 miles away at 10AM. I checked out the device immediately to see whether there was anything unusual about it,
and there wasn't. I called at 5 after 9 and told him I'd have it ready at 9:30AM that day for him so he could pick it up on the way to work..
He showed up and tested it out, it worked perfectly. We went on to discuss computers for a several minutes. People
that know me understand based on my experience with 8 hardware environments and 14 operating systems that I favor
the Macintosh OS over Windows and David only had Windows experience to that point so I gave some idea of why the Macintosh
OSX smokes Windows XP and Vista (not hard to do). Trying to win converts one at a time.
Here he is listening to his fixed iPod in his GeekSquad outfit.
Fixed - Total cost..$75.
