On August 28th I got an email from Marcos Reyes, in Chicago, Illinois
that read,
"Dear Mr. Walburg,
Help! My nephew's ipod, which was working ok, was I think dropped once too many times.
It seems to me that when I connect it to a computer, the base of the Ipod is messed up-bent and the computer is unable to detect it and is always asking to reboot it. If I do that, it still cannot be detected. I think the mainframe/innards
are ok; the case might be in need of replacement. I am willing to do what you tell me.
Please indicate how I can send it to you right away and with how much money for
the repair/reshipping back."
It arrived a few days later and I was able to fix his nephew Alex's iPod without
the need of added parts. Total cost $40
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Ken Adams called me Salinas, California.
He works for Taylor Farms which grows, cuts and distributes many of the makings of dinner salad for people throughout the US.
He dropped his iPod once too may times and the 80GB drive in his 5th Gen video was
mortally wounded in the last drop. He found me on the internet and gave me a call to
discuss options. He could have replaced his 80GB with the same size. That drive would
be $100 plus $40 labor. But he realized he never really used more than 20GB on the
drive at all. He opted for a 30GB drive at $60 plus $40 labor/return shipping.
The backplate on his iPod still shows it as an "80GB" model, it just has a 30GB drive
in it which will never be filled even after he added the 965 CD's he owned to it.
Fixed - Total cost $100.
