Leah Lowy sent her iPod in from Rochester, New York.
Before:
After:
She smashed the screen on her 3rd Gen Nano and needed it repaired. I'm not even exactly sure how she found me but sent it in.
It arrived on September 22nd 2008 and I got the repair finished, with all of her files
safe on it and sent back the same day. The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.

Cam Folks lives in Rohnert Park, California
just south of Santa Rosa and works at the Piner Cafe on Piner Road. She had the classic
'hearing from the left side only' problem and had heard about me from one of her friends.
She stopped and left her iPod off at 9:30 on the way to work and came by to pick it up
fixed and working perfectly that afternoon.
The part was $28 and labor was $40
Fixed - Total cost $68.

Alonna Pinkins found me on the internet
and emailed me from Baltimore, Maryland
"Hello,
I came across isickbay.com while looking for a solution as to why my 5th gen. iPod is
misbehaving. It was working perfectly well while I was adding some files to it to transfer
to another computer. I then disconnected it to play it, but it would not turn on. I tried
to reset it multiple times, but that didn't work. I tried to connect it to a different
computer, but the computer did not recognize the iPod as being connected. I have an iPod
radio, so I tried to connect it to that. I think it charges and the radio recognizes that
it is there, but no music is played. I cannot get anything to appear on the screen. I have
only dropped it once, which resulted in a cracked screen and the screen being harder to see. I dealt with that because I could still use it, but that was over a year ago. Could that be affecting it still? Is there any way I can make it work, or does it inevitably need to be repaired? Thank you so much for your site, I have spent days looking for possible solutions. It is wonderful to find someone to answer my questions.
~Alonna"
She lives in Baltimore and sent it in along with $40. I found her logic board was in
fact permanently damaged *and* it had the cracked LCD screen. Bringing this iPod back
to standard utility would cost her $163 which was an impractical repair considering at
that moment Apple was selling refurbished (meaning brand new but sent from the chinese
factory in non-descript white box packaging for use as a warranty replacement) for $169.
We spoke on the phone and about this and I sent her iPod back with a $20 refund. It really
wasn't worth repairing.
