Alyssa Rowatt of San Francisco, California
called me to discuss the hearing in only one ear she was having. This is a well traveled path and I went onto describe how it occurs.
She sent it via Fed Ex a day later. It was sent back to her fixed the next day.
The headphone jack/wire harness was $35 and the labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $75.

Nate Proctor called from the Atlanta, Georgia
area to describe a set of circumstances he was having with his 4th Gen 20Gb iPod. To sum it up he had cracked the LCD screen and we both agreed that his battery was shot.
Another wrinkle was that he wanted the repair done before he went on a trip to Las Vegas. After discussing things we agreed he should send it in to me in California and I would send it back to his Las Vegas Hotel.
The battery was $15, the LCD was $10 and labor/return shipping was $40 for a $65 total.
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Wayne Gilbony had a water mishap with his 80GB 5th Generation video iPod.
He sent in from Kansas City, Missouri during a time when I had a major cold so my typical turn slipped to several days.
When it arrived I took it apart and cleaned everything to arrest any corrosion that may have been developing but needed bed rest so didn't complete the testing to determine what worked among his parts until a few days later when I could swallow without pain and stand without being shaky.
In his case the logic board didn't work *and* the hard drive wouldn't work either so repairing the device was impractical relative to what it would be worth once repaired.
I sent it back to Wayne along with a $20 refund from the $40 he PayPal'd in and he
gave the iPod to a friend of his to take apart and study.
