Peter Larsan called me from San Francisco, California
to discuss the problem he was having with his Photo iPod . It sounded like a failed drive, but what he really wanted to do was extract the data from the drive he had.
We prearranged for a phone to have instruct on data recovery. When the call was finished we still didn't have the data extracted because the drive really was shot.
He sent it in to me, just to make sure. I had a 60GB replacement drive here that ultimately was where we landed... replacing his faulty drive with no data recovery.
The drive was $45 and labor/return shipping to the city was $40 for an $85 total.
Fixed - Total cost $85.

Suzanne Chiles sent her iPod in from Portland, Oregon.
It started with a phone call that revealed real complexities in the way, first her battery was shot and needed to be replaced. The rest wasn't clear until her iPod got here.
After replacing the battery, I wasn't able to get it through the boot up process which ultimately was traced back to a severely faulty hard drive that had to be replaced.
It was sent back a couple of days later all ready for use, she listens to it on public transit, on the way to work (now that gasoline has reached $4/gal)
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Cindy Peterson of Kenosha, Wisconsin
sent me an email about her son leaving his iPod Nano in his pants pocket as it made a trip through the washing machine. They did some quick research and found me as a resource to help out.
She sent it in. I was able to get it working again and keep all the music files on it. The LCD was cloudy because it had water between the layers and needed to be replaced or would never have been "bright" and the images would always look like there were clouds floating through it. Notice in the shot below.
The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40 for a $73 total.
Fixed - Total cost $73.
