Michelle Wilbert called me from Sayville, New York
about her daughter Julianna's 3rd Gen Nano iPod which had been put through the washer. I get this call many times a week and stepped through what she should do and how to get it here.

When it arrived, it had problems. Notice the water still under the faceplate.

I was able to get all of them solved except the LCD screen backlight. That required a new LCD but it works perfectly now *and* all of Juli's songs and Hanna Montana videos were safely still there for her when she gets it back.

The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $73.

Jason Kelly called me a couple of times in the middle of December 2008 from Occidental where he lives.
I know the area, I used to rehearse in Occidental when I was the keyboard player in a band called "$27 Snap on Face". It's bit cold and damp there for me to spend a winter though. He wanted to find out more about what I do and what the process was to get his 5th Gen video iPod fixed that had the hearing in the left earbud side only problem.

He had hoped to come by with it over the weekend of December 13th but finally made it on the Monday the 15th. I had his iPod for just and hour and had repaired and ready for him to pick. Same day service. I do this most of the time for people in the area that don't have water immersion cases.

The headphone jack/hold-lock switch part was $28 and labor was $40. Happy guy and it works perfectly now.

Fixed - Total cost $68.

Nathan Roberts called me from Schenectady, New York.
He had a problem that is common enough with people that rely on a PC running Windows as an operating system. His PC had "crashed" taking everything of importance including his iTunes Library with it. Also he had dropped his iPod enough times that the drive in it had stopped working. What he desperately wanted me to do was perform a data extraction on his dead drive.

That makes it a complex case, not just a data extraction but autopsy the drive and try to make it work first then run data extraction utilities.

I wasn't able to get it the drive to work and there wasn't anything I could really do about it. There was just too many wrong things.

I sent him a message reading,

"I wasn't able to perform the data extraction using.

Okay, so we are down a replacement. There are two possibilities, since yours is the single height iPod

1) the exact replacement of the 30GB drive that is $60

2) The other is what you suggested, I have the single height 80GB drive and that is $100

I'll send you a PayPal request for both, pick the alternative you want, pay it using PayPal and I can have it on the way back to you on Monday.

He elected to have it replaced by the 80GB drive. so he got it back working for $140

Fixed - Total cost $140.
