Stephen Boden emailed me and the message read
"Hello, I put my iPod through the wash last night. I dried it out as best I could and it plays music but the screen is shot. (At least I think it is) Can you help? If not I guess I have a very expensive iPod Shuffle"
I sent him the instructions to mail it in and it arrived a few days later. Once I had it apart and had worked through it I sent this message,
"The iPod got here yesterday and I have been at it since.
I found and corrected quite a few problems that were likely to develop. I was not able to make the backlight on the LCD work. The trace on it's ribbon connection was corroded away (which proves to be the case in 3 out of 7 that I am able to make work again.)
The LCD is $33.
I will send a PayPal request for that.
Once paid, I can get the device on the way back to you the next day."
He covered it within the hour and it was back on the way to him.
Fixed - Total cost $73.

David Gordon sent his iPod Touch in from Crockett, California
after he called to ask about my success with Touch models. At that time I was successful in about 50% of Touch water immersion cases.
It arrived a few days later, on a Friday along with two other iPod Touch models that also had been water immersed. I spent 7:30am the next working (yes, I am sometimes obsessive) through those and 3 other iPods. I was able to get 2 of the Touch models to work perfectly but not David's.
There was a good deal of corrosion at the LCD to logic board connection which is a plug and jack arrangement. That corrosion knocked out the connection on both sides that made the LCD backlight come on. The Touch worked and it's touch screen and its battery and charge circuits but didn't have a white background to discern what the screen has on it.
I sent it back to him with a $20 refund.... but my success rate with Touch models has now moved u to 66%

Kim Martin sent her daughter Malia's Nano 3rd Generation iPod in from Sebastopol, California
(a few miles west of here) with a check for $40 and really brief note. "wet iPod small puddle".
It took a couple of days, but I was able to get it working perfectly again and didn't need to replace any parts in it to do it.
Works perfectly, happy daughter
Fixed - Total cost $40.
