Mark Doris works at Wells Fargo Bank in Sacramento.
He works on special projects associated with commercial loans. He sent his 5th Gen video iPod in because it had been dropped and stopped working. This is usually failed hard drive and when it got here that proved to be true.
The replacement 30GB drive was $60 and it was time for a new battery which was $19 along with labor/return shipping of $40 the total to get back his perfectly working system was $119
Fixed - Total cost $119.

Connie Garrison from here in Santa Rosa
emailed me this message early on December 18th 2008,
"Hi Frank,
The ipod you fixed for my son around Thanksgiving is now dead again! He dropped it in the toilet (clean toilet, thank goodness). Now it is not working. Do you think it can be revived a second time?"
This was one of three very similar messages I got that morning from residents of my county. The strange part is I get typically 5 or 6 of this sort a day from all over the world. To get three from my area, hers and two others that had gone through the washer was very unusual.
She dropped it off at 1pm and I had it ready for her again at 4:30 that day and all of Jacob's music files remained intact too.
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Paul Steinberg sent in his daughter Hillary's Photo iPod from Tarrytown, New York.
It was showing the starry eyed sad face and I was unsure what I would do if the problem proved to be the hard drive.
I took it apart and analyzed each part of the system. In this case it was the head phone jack module that had failed. I "gifted" it to them and replaced it, then sent the system back running.
Fixed - Total cost $40.
