Liese Siegenthaler called me from San Francisco, California
one day. Her 5th Gen 30GB iPod had the ever famous hearing from the left side only problem. She sent it up to me along with a check.

The faceplate on her iPod was fairly scratched and the rubber pad beneath the Select button had shifted so the center button top was awkwardly and permanently recessed. As long as I had her iPod a part of the labor I charge for is taking care of problems like this so her iPod is restored to good utility.

I threw in a good faceplate and new Select button. I replaced her headphone jack hold/lock switch so she had stereo hearing again.

The parts amounted to $35 and labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $75.

Heather Worley called me from Opelieka, Alabama.
Like many others her 5th generation video iPod had been exposed to water. It wasn't carrying a charge because the battery shorted out too.

She sent it in and I received it on the morning of August 14th 2008 in the morning. I always give water cases my first priority because they are time sensitive. The longer they go untreated the less there is of making them ever work right.

By 4 PM I had it working again, I did have to replace the battery. I actually brought it to the post office to send back to her that same afternoon. I wanted to surprise her by getting it back working before she even realized it had been received here.

I'm pretty sure I'll get an email about this.

The battery for 60GB 5th Gen was $26 and labor return shipping was $40

She mailed me with this message on August 16th, "I just wanted to send you a quick email to give you a big THANKS for fixing my ipod. It sure is nice to have it back working in perfect condition. I appreciate it, bunches. I will tell everyone I know about you so if their ipod happens to quit working to send it out to you. Anyway thanks again for your help. Have A Great Day! :) Heather"

Fixed - Total cost $66.

James Nyulassy sent me and email from Washingtonville, New York
to discuss the problem he was having with his 8 GB Nano 3rd Gen. The message read,

"Frank,

I came across your website after a quick Google search. I wanted to get your opinion on a possible repair. I gave my niece the latest iPod Nano (8GB) for Christmas and unfortunately, it was put through the wash and a few minutes in the dryer. The bad (worse) news is that it happened nearly two weeks ago. She was afraid to tell anyone and her mother just uncovered the whole story over the weekend.

I see that you've had great success with these cases but I also read on your website that time is a killer. The physical shell wasn't damaged but is two weeks (three by the time you would get it) too long?

Let me know your thoughts."

I sent him back the specifics on how to send it in and it arrived a few days later with $40 in cash (two $20 bills). I was able to finally get it all working again. The tricky part was getting the battery to hold a charge and getting the battery charge circuits to work again but I was able to get them to work.

When James got it back he sent me a message that read,

"Frank,

Thank you so much for your time and effort! It is greatly appreciated. You could have easily told me that I needed a new screen or battery and I would have never been the wiser. The world needs more people like you. I will recommend you to everyone I know.

Thank you!!!

James"

Fixed - Total cost $40.
