Jonathon Mills called me from Calistoga, California
which is over the hill from me toward Napa. He has a 4th Gen Black and White iPod with a 40GB drive and his scroll wheel wasn't working correctly. I gave him instruction on how to reset the scroll wheel data port on his iPod and told him to report back. If everything went well, he wouldn't need me to repair it.

But his really had failed. He sent it in with a check for $60 to have me repair it. The surgery went smoothly. The part was $20 and labor/return shipping was $40. The repaired iPod was sent back to him the day it arrived. His total out hand and back again experience was 3 days, mailed to, fixed and back again.

He sent me an email a few days after he got it back which read,

"Frank,

Thanks for the great repair job on my Ipod. I will happily recommend you to anyone with a sick Ipod. You were quick and well priced. Thanks again.

Jonathan"

My reply?

"Happy to help.

I also fix phone, cameras, laptops... almost anything but a rainy day, so our paths may have other reasons to cross ;)

Frank"

Fixed - Total cost $60.

Jessica Katzman called me one day from San Francisco
about her Pink 4GB 2nd Generation Nano iPod. It had gone through the washer and she was fretting she had lost it forever. It kind of worked she said but unless it plugged into a charger it wouldn't stay on. Could I help she wondered?

She sent it in and PayPal'd over $40 to have me work on it.

Inside there wasn't much water damage, but the recharge circuits on the battery were corrosion damaged. I took the battery apart to fix the problem and put everything back together then crossed my fingers. It accepted and held a charge.

Her iPod works perfectly and all of hers are still intact. Total charge was $40.

I got a message from her several days later that read,

"I keep forgetting to write you and THANK YOU for the rapid repair and return of my nano! Your service is WONDERFUL and you, sir are a genius. Thanks again!"

Fixed - Total cost $40.

Lisa Martinez called me from Ottawa, Illinois
about her son Rob's iPod. She had two problems to solve. One was the LCD in his 5th Gen video iPod was smashed and needed to be replaced. The other was... well we've heard this many times... her Windows based PC hard drive became laden with a virus and she lost all of their files, which included Rob's iTunes Library. Also Rob's iPod was freezing which is a sign of data corruption and needing to re-format the drive.

When I arrived the first thing I did was replace the LCD to see if I actually had a *working* iPod. I did and then I noticed Rod had a pile of movies on the iPod along with his song files. There was 3297 files comprising 23.4 GB of space on his 27.7 formatted 30GB drive. I ran the data extraction and then formatted the drive again.

I copied over his files again, this time so he could add them to his iTunes Library again.

Notice in the photo of it fixed there *no* songs and almost no drive space. This is because I 23.4GB's are being for file transport.

The LCD was $33 and labor (including data extraction and file parking) with return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $73.
