Nora Slatken found me on the internet and called me from Tenafly, New Jersey
to see if there was any hope that her Daughter's iPod Touch 1st Gen could be fixed after it had dropped in water of some kind. I gave my recent work experience on these and she sent it in with a check for $60.
I am much better at fixing Touch 1st Gen's than the 2nd Gen models.... at the moment, but I am getting better all the time. The iPod arrived 4 days later and it took a day to make it work again, perfectly.
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Rosemary La Puma emailed me from Sausalito, California.
The message read.
"I would like the battery replaced on my ipod. I learned from your website that I have been overcharging it and now the battery isn't working very well. Please let me know where I should send it. Thank you."
She didn't tell what model it was so I replied with a web page that would allow her to figure it out. She came back with Mini 2nd Gen. I have batteries for these on hand all of the time so she sent it up.
It arrived on a Friday and was back on the way to her the next day. The battery was $10 and labor was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $50.
