Brenda Young called me from Sand Springs, Oklahoma
about her 5th Gen video iPod. It had somehow been exposed to water and didn't work anymore... *but* she also had another problem. The only copy of the songs that existed anywhere was on her iPod. The mission became... iPod resurrection and data recovery.
It arrived a few days later. I went through the device and ultimately got it working. Then I got the hard drive to work. Then I was able to run a data extraction and pulled a copy of all of her songs off of it. That new set I placed back on the drive in a directory called "add_to_library" and then sent it back with instructions so she could add them to her new iTunes Library and any one else's she wanted to.
Total cost to get the iPod back working perfectly *and* get all of her music back... $40 including shipping back to her in
Oklahoma.
Fixed - Total cost $40.

I got a message from Margaret Ann Erwin in Davidsonville, Maryland
one morning. Her husband is a naval aviator who flies F-18's and had been moved from Miramar near San Diego and re-stationed at the Pentagon where he is flying a desk temporarily. The message read,
"Good Morning,
Last night as my son was brushing his teeth our i pod fell in the water. ;( Like all your other stories it appeared to work however I think I need to send it to you. It is an older one. I put it under a little night light and it seems better after being there a bit. I think it needs professional help. My number is Maryland is xxx-xxx-xxxx. I will try to catch up with you today.
Margaret Ann"
Later on, here son would become more direct and tell her that it fell fully into a full sink and was there un-attended for a bit of time.
I sent instructions and it arrived a few days later. There were some serious problems with the logic board. I was able get through those and get the entire device working again. Considering that it was 4 years old and the battery was hardly holding a charge, I suggested this was the time to change it.
The iPod works perfectly, all the songs are safe. The battery was $17 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $57.

Cam Folks is a previous customer and lives in Rohnert Park.
She is also an ardent motorcycle rider who owns two Harley's. While riding in the rain she seemed to have gotten her 5th Gen video iPod exposed to the water and it stopped working. She called and set up a time to bring it in.
I found there some problems with the logic board.... which I was able to correct. It was time for her to get a new battery
and suggested it. She came by later the next afternoon for it. The battery was $19 and labor was $40. The total at
$59 was a cheap amount to get her iPod back working perfectly again.
Fixed - Total cost $59.
