Mike Boggs is a mechanical engineer in New Port Richey, Florida.
In a rare instance, he had his fiance send his iPod to me without calling or emailing me about what he was dealing with as a problem. Because hadn't spoken, it arrived without the 5 things I insist on before starting.

1) Name
2) mailing address
3) email address
4) description of the problem I am trying to solve and what preceded the behavior
5) funds to cover my labor/return shipping

The iPod waited here for a week until they called to ask how it was going. Then I was able to get the pertinent information and they use PayPal to send in the $40

He was having a problem with the drive in his 6th Gen video iPod and the drive needed to be replaced. I outlined the different drive options and went on to describe "Frank's iPod Theory" which states,

"There is no need to possess an iPod with storage capacity greater than 7 times the iPod's battery life since you can change the contents of the iPod in less than 6 seconds of it's entire 90 minute charge cycle on your computer. Because of this a 30GB drive is the equivalent of a 3TB drive since the iPod battery will play just 1/35th of a 30GB drive contents in a battery charge."

He heeded the advice and wisely elected to get a 30GB drive for the replacement. The drive was $60 and labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $100.

Kathleen Hutchinson called me from Glenwood, Maryland about her 120GB 6th Generation video iPod
that she had dropped in a Latte coffee for a little over a minute. My guess... it was too hot to put her fingers in. We finished the conversation and I sent a follow up email on how to send it to me

It arrived about 4 days later. The iPod smelled thoroughly of coffee and it was a sweetened Latte... you know the kind that come from Starbucks that are 270 empty weight gaining calories.

In order to make Kathleen's iPod work again I had disassemble it to it's smallest parts and launder all of the parts to get the "mocha/Latte" residual "fudge" off the parts then reassemble it again.

It needed a new battery but I was able to get it all working again. The battery as $19 and labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $59.

David Cochran called me one day from Buena Vista, Georgia.
He found me by doing a Google search and noticed I had repaired quite a few ipods from Georgia already.

He has a 1st Gen Touch model and had dropped something on it and cracked the LCD screen leaving a round bleed in the upper corner of the screen.

The replacement LCD was $28 and labor/return shipping for the Touch model was $60 so it was an $88 repair.

Fixed - Total cost $88.
