Marjo Lane of Cedar Falls, Iowa sent in her grandson's iPod. It's a 3rd generation Nano
that had been accidentally put through the washing machine. They then tried to dry it out by putting it in the freezer (which had been suggested on the internet) then they let it sit in the sun for an hour and none of this brought it back to life.
I took it apart and was able to get all of it working again except the LCD screen, but the files and everything were safely still on it.
The LCD was $22 and labor/return shipping back Cedar Falls, Iowa for it was $40
Fixed - Total cost $62.

Brandon Fistck lives in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
He dropped his 6th Generation video iPod in water for what he describes "as 10 seconds" and that was enough. It wouldn't turn on or operate in any way. He originally contacted me by email and I sent instructions to get it to me.
When it arrived I was able to get it working but it required a new LCD screen. I let him know in this message,
"Brandon,
I have been able to get it your iPod working again. All of your 8391 songs and 11 podcasts on Livvy's iPod are safe.
It required replacing the LCD which is a $41 part.
I'm going to send you a PayPal request for that, cover it today and it will back on the way to HI in the afternoon mail and you may have it on Wednesday.
Frank"
He sent the $41 for the LCD late on a Saturday and it was on the way back to Hawaii Monday morning. Total cost $81
Fixed - Total cost $81.

Danny Maleh called me from Plantation, Florida to discuss about his 5th Gen video iPod
that had been dropped in water. Like many people he wanted to see that I am who I seem to be from the web site and can speak about the problems of iPods that have been dipped in water. I sent him a follow up email that summarized the conversation and how to send it in.
It arrived a few days later and I was able to get back working again. In Danny's case it required a new LCD screen because the corrosion was excessive on the LCD ribbon connector and would work.
The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.
