Steve Ross called from here in Santa Rosa.
He lives in Rincon Valley and his daughter has a 5th Gen that had stopped working so he brought it over and left it off with $40 to have me make a determination about it.
Ultimately, I discovered there was a problem with the logic board and it really needed a new battery. The logic board was $70 and the battery was $19
Fixed - Total cost $89.

David Stevens sent me his 4th Gen Photo iPod from Willits, California after sending me an email that read,
"Howdy,
I have a 4th Generation iPod photo. The scroll wheel is not functioning and now I can't even get the thing to reset. I'd like to send it to you for repairs. If it works for you I'll try to get it in the mail today...I live up north in Willits.
Thanks,
Dave"
It's not always the case, but his diagnosis was a good call and that was the problem. I had him send it with only the $40 labor rate until I figured out whether the scroll did in fact needto be replaced. Once I knew that, he used PayPal to send in the rest. The replacement scroll wheel and faceplate was $20 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $60.
