Vanessa Bautista lives in Petaluma, California
a bit south of here. She called one day to ask about why she could only from ear in her video iPod. I know the story I told her, she dropped her iPod and it landed on the plugged in headphone plug.
She came up the next day and dropped it off then went shopping for about 40 minutes while I performed the necessary surgery.
She got it back fixed 40 minutes later, cost her $75 ($35 for the part and $40)
Fixed - Total cost..$75.

Mike Vandordrecht lives in Santa Rosa, California
and called to discuss what was his son's 4th Gen iPod Mini with a smashed LCD screen. If you understand my work, I am primarily interested in keeping as many already manufactured iPods alive for the longest possible time at the most affordable price to their owners so the planet can be spared any pollution and disposal from the manufacturing of additional 'not really needed to be replaced' iPods.
I told I'd give him the LCD at no charge if he paid the $40 labor to effect the replacement.
He agreed, happily and came by to drop it off.
An hour later he came by to pick it up. For $40 he got it back working perfectly then he asked,
"So do you fix cell phones by any chance?" His son had dropped his Sony/Ericsson Walkman 860i
(a pricey $300 phone) in water. That will be another story.
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Mike Vandordrecht came by to pick it up his repaired 4th iPod Mini
then he asked, "So do you fix cell phones by any chance?" His son had dropped his Sony/Ericsson Walkman
860i (a pricey $300 phone) in water.
My answer was I know quite a bit about electronic devices, have fixed iPods, digital cameras,
Play Station Portables (PSP), and my own cell phone so I would be prepared try my hand at the water immersed phone.
He left it with the charger and I went to work on it. Over the next two days I brought it back
to utility. It has 2 logic boards, a camera component and partial sealed keypad switch board.
The major water damage was to the radio telephone board that the LCD and keypad and camera plug into.
Here are shots of the process.
