James Plotz is the Branch Manager for the Systems Division of Johnson Controls Inc
and lives in West Lim Oregon (97034). He has a Black 6th Gen video iPod that somehow got dropped in a tub. I don't know if it is a hot tub or a bath tub but he needed it gone through post immersion so he sent it to me.
I was able to get it all working again except the hard drive which I ultimately took apart to find a cause that would make a difference like I did in the Jason Rockhill case but I still couldn't get it to work.
The total repair was $110 to get back his near $300 iPod working again.
Fixed - Total cost $110.

Tina Covington and her daughter Christa live in Baton Rouge Louisiana (70805).
Christa had a mishap with her 16GB 2nd Gen iPod Touch and her Mom called to discuss it. It arrived a few days later with a note that explained it all.
" On Wednesday Jan 13th around 3PM, my daughter dropped her iPod Touch into the toilet... DON'T ASK!!" (meaning it wasn't clean water), "It was immediately removed, dried off, then wiped with a disinfectant wipe. The iPod was on at the time it was dropped int he toilet."
People frequently comment on internet articles they have read related to "turning the iPod on again after it was dropped in water". They are lead to believe that turning it on causes additional damage, it doesn't. Water rolling around inside the iPod in essence "turns it on" by shorting the interior contacts.
I was able to get Christ'a Touch working again perfectly, including her WiFi connectivity and all of her files were still safely on it.
It did require replacing the LCD which was a $39 part but for $99 she got back her $300 iPod
Fixed - Total cost $99.
