Jeannie Joe lives here in Santa Rosa California (95404).
Her son has a 16GB Red 4th Gen Nano and it's scroll wheel stopped working. I never heard the reason why. She dropped it off with $40 and hoped I could make it work again.
Since the warranty expired I was her only hope. I took it completely apart and cleaned things up. There was corrosion at the scroll wheel ribbon's plug and jack. It probably had some moisture that induced the corrosion over time.
I got it all working again perfectly. This is her picking it up. Total cost $40
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Michael Jacobs lives here in Santa Rosa (95403) and got a hold of me by phone.
He has a 6th Gen video iPod, you know the "Classic" model. It was given to him by a girlfriend in horrible condition. Apparently it stopped working and she or someone decided to take it apart and 'fix' it.
Apple makes things harder with each iPod model to break into them. This one is designed to seriously damage the cosmetics if done wrong. And it was done wrong. So the face plate was really scarred up and the backplate wouldn't fit because it was racked and had a rippled edge.
So there was two aspects to manage. What is wrong with it and can I make it look good enough there was pride in ownership again.
I found the drive had failed. I sent an email and we agreed on a 30Gb replacement, also it was $8 for a new faceplate and I threw in a near backplate so the iPod had a new perfect appearance.
For $108 he got a Brand New looking iPod that actually worked.
The next day I got this message from him
"Hey thanks again for the Ipod repair. You gave an old abused Ipod a second chance at life with a new family.
And lemme know if your wine is ever available at a tasting event. Would love to try it out.
Thanks,
Michael"
Fixed - Total cost $108.
