Jean Yamasaki called me from El Cerrito California (94530) about her son Aki Laflin's 5th Gen 80GB video iPod.
The LCD was cracked and needed to be replaced. This case was a referral from Steve Beale at macrepair.com which is at 7075 Redwood Blvd Suite G in Novato Ca 94945. Steve and I have a great relationship with each of us having talents and abilites that compliment each other. Through that we make referrals.
I had the iPod repaired and on the way back the day it arrived. All of Aki's files were still safely on it.
The LCD was $23 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $63.

Juan Ortega lives in Santa Rosa (95409) and called me about his daughter's iPod Touch 1st Gen.
The battery in it wasn't holding a charge because it had been overcharged so many times. This is a complex soldering job but I've done it many times. He is a messenger for a local hospital and came back by later after he got off work.
The battery was $19 and labor was $60 so it was a $79 repair.
Fixed - Total cost $79.

Kevin Clark called me from Petaluma California (94952) about 11 miles south of here about his iPhone 3GS.
He had been in Mexico with it and dropped it in water *and* made a repair attempt himself. He did decently at it but there were still a couple of damaged parts. He called me to ask if he could buy what he perceived as the needed parts.
I don't sell parts, I need to make sure they are used properly and 'make a life saved'. I also am not patient enough to teach people about install techniques.
He brought it up. The LCD was gone. It was a white out condition, the Home key didn't work because he knocked off the display assembly the two ground (earthing) springs that that invoke the 'shrink to home' routine. That was a point of carelessness on his part and meant he had to replace the display chassis *and* upperglass/digitizer (since they are epoxied to the chassis).
The LCD was $80, the chassis $32, the upper glass was $30 and labor was $60. Even though it was a $202 repair *and* it got his iPhone back working perfectly within 3 hours, it was still much less than the $750 paid AT&T to replace his phone the last time.
Fixed - Total cost $202.
