I got a call from Phillip Gable who is in the US Marine Corps stationed in Beaufort South Carolina (29904).
He dropped his White 32GB iPhone 3GS in a swimming pool and it had stopped working. He noticed me on the internet and called to see if I could make it work again.
We discussed the process of sending it in and it arrived several days later with 4 $20 bills to pay for the repair and Express mail shipping back.
I actually worked on the phone for 2 days and got it working faithfully again. The memory was intact, the radio-telephone working perfectly... (notice the 4 bars), all the photos are still there... works perfect.
Just $60 to get back a working iPhone that AT&T would have charged him $600 to get a replacement for.
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Kate Magery emailed me from San Francisco California (94122) about her iPod.
The message read,
"Hi--
I found your website after looking for how to dry out my ipod. (Just threw an uncapped bottle of water into my purse yesterday with my ipod and my phone--trying to minimize the cost here!). I left my ipod in rice overnight but this morning it had the Apple logo and told me to consult their service website, and there's water behind the screen. It's no longer under warranty so I'm hoping to get it fixed. I live in SF but was planning to go to the North Bay sometime this week and was hoping I could get my ipod repaired while I'm there. What are my chances of successfully reviving my poor ipod? (I'm not concerned about getting my music back; I have all that on my computer.)
Thanks,
Kate Magary (possibly gracious future customer)"
We converesed by email and it arrived a few days later. I actually had it her for 3 weeks as I worked through it. I finally got it all working again. I did need to replace the LCD and that was $33 part, in all the $73 for the LCD, labor and return shipping was considerably less than the $280 it would cost to replace the iPod.
Four days later her father Al emailed me to ask, if I could try to repair her water immersed Motorola Droid. It was in the purse with her iPod but she didn't think of me for her phone at the time too.
Fixed - Total cost $73.
