Michelle Charland sent her 4th Gen Photo iPod in from Westchester, Ohio.
What it needed wasn't clear immediately.. it just didn't work. I kept
looking through the possibilities. The drive worked elsewhere and the
other parts seemed to, then I noticed the entire hard drive connection had
been ripped away for the logic board. It's not possible to correct this so
I needed to replace the logic board.
Total cost of the repair was $40 for labor and shipping and $35 for the
logic board.
Fixed - Total cost..$75.

Shana Deffenbaugh works here in Santa Rosa
at the Red Wing Shoe Store. She had left her 3rd Gen 20GB iPod on a wall adapted stereo system that charged the battery in her iPod the whole while it was 'docked' to it. After 90 minutes the device would then begin over-charging the battery, unbinding its chemistry and ultimately shortening its charge holding life to be able to hold no charge at all.
She called and missed me. It happens I was out of town visiting my father in Sacramento and didn't want to leave the answering machine on because I a call back within moments when someone calls and I knew I wouldn't be able to live up to that. She also emailed me and I got to her right away when I returned.
She brought it over and I had the repair done a hour later.
The battery was $17 and labor was $40. Works perfectly now.
Fixed - Total cost $57.

Dr. Maria Ochoa sent her iPod in from Hayward, California.
"Hiya Frank.
My water bottle leaked all over the interior of my gym bag and drenched by hard working iPod. I would like to send it to you for diagnosis and repair.
Thanks Maria"
The LCD had permanent damage and needed to be replaced. Rather than bother her at work and mention I needed the additional $10, she had sent $11 to have the device back Priority and Insured. Since I was able to get the work done withi a day, and there would be no not savings in delivery back since she is so close, I applied the extra funds to pay for the LCD.
Total cost to get her iPod back working $50, $10 for the LCD and $40 labor/shipping.
Fixed - Total cost..$100.
