Kelly Forbes is a guy that lives in Lousville Kentucky (40206).
He called me after finding me oon the internet and noticing I had remarkable luck with water immersed iPods.
Everyone has a story, in his case he dropped 16GB Touch in a lake where it sat there in 70 degree water for over two hours. During this time sand and silt were stirred up and that obscured his abiltity to see it. Guess what I found in the iPod? yep, thas right Lucy... sand and silt.
He tried the now famous rice trick thinking that would make a positive difference and as it does in many cases made none.
I got here about 11 days after the event. By the next day I was able to get it all working again including the WiFi connection.
This was also a case where I had to replace the LCD, but that was a small thing.
Fixed - Total cost $125.

David Watts called me form Camp Hill Pennsylvania (17011) to find out
if there was any hope for either of his Nano iPods that he had put through the wash. One was a 2nd Gen Nano, like I use each for running and the other was an 8GB 4th Gen.
You've already figured it out haven't you... he bought the 4th Gen after he washed the 2nd Gen. Anyay I had send them both along and they got here by weeks end.
It turns out David and I listen to kind of similar music.. I listen to Electronica and Intelligent Dance Music or CHR/dance quite a bit which is frequently a re-mix of a Pop song. Think Lady Gaga or Ke$ha or Lady Antebellum even.
I was able to get the 4th Gen workings again.. but the 2nd Gen was a goner.
The 4th Gen was a $40 repair and he was grateful to get one of the two back working.
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Erik Yates called me from Chatham New Jersey (07928) about his 4th Gen "HP" iPod
with a 20GB drive. He described a problem... the center select button didn't work. In the past I've identified this as being one of three problems, but lately it has been just one. The battery inside is just behind the select button and when it fails.. the battery plumps. This added thickness prohibits the switch/button to travel to its detent point.
He sent it in and sure enough I was right on the battery. The replacement was $16 and labor return shipping was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $56.
