I got an email Hanui Amy Choi who lives in Berkeley California (94704).
She is previous client, also a previous water case. The message read,
"hi frank,
my name is amy (hanui), i had an ipod fixed by you about a year ago and contacted you some months back about sending in a water damaged ipod touch. unfortunately i never really got around to mailing it, so i am planning to mail it in tomorrow.
the ipod suffered water damage for an indefinite period of time about half a year ago when it was dropped in a toilet by my baby brother. ever since then, everything is functional except the screen. the ipod is completely recognized by my laptop, makes sounds when touched in appropriate places (aka plays music when you touch the music and play buttons/area on the screen), the buttons work, etc.
things i have noticed:
the screen is only white/light blue at all times, and after you turn it on, the touch screen works, but the backlight does not come on after it dims until you push the power or menu buttons. i have not been able to test the audio jack yet as i broke my apple earbuds a while back.
i am a student at uc berkeley and will be mailing the ipod from the post office here at berkeley tomorrow, so hopefully it gets to you sooner than later. i know it has been a pretty long time since the water damage, but at least we know the important parts of the ipod seem to be functioning, right? i will be including a check for 60$. thank you so much, and glad to be turning to you again for my ipod repair. hope to hear from you soon and that you are having a great week!"
I got back within moments and she sent it later that day. I had it working again perfectly later the same day it arrived. I had to replace the LCD screen and that was a $41 part but still she got it back with all of files still safely on it and the WiFi worked perfectly. I use PayPal as the means to sttle up when parts are needed. I got this back after the payment arrived.
"hi frank,
i just sent you the paypal payment, so glad you could get it to work. I would also be grateful if you could make the package relatively small so it can fit in an apartment's mailbox. i am always out of my house and usually miss package deliveries unless they are delivered straight to my mailbox. thanks so much!! i will email you once it has arrived. thanks for saving yet another ipod for me!!!
amy"
The package I send will always fit in a standard letter drop slot and is very non-descript so no one will have a guess as to the contents.
She got it back just 3 days after sending it and sent me this message when it got there.
"hi frank,
the ipod touch arrived this morning and i am charging/syncing it as i speak!! thank you so much for a job tremendously well done (again!)!!! i will continue referring you to everyone i know who is having problems with their devices. thanks for bringing another ipod back to life for me, and have a great weekend!!!
