Cindy Kishi sent me her 32GB 3rd Gen iPod Touch from Culver City California (90230).
Actually it was her daughters Touch. A couple of days earlier her daughter had dropped it in the toilet, clean water she said ;)
I deal with this specific problem all the time and I always reassure people as much a tragedy that this appears at the moment, there are far worse things that happen through the course of life. Parents are often pretty stearn with kids and I remind them of the worse things that could happen, this is merely a mistake in judgement or an accident.
I was able to get the Touch working again completely, however it required replacing the LCD screen since the backlight on her Touch had failed.
Notice the WiFi is working, a complete save.
Fixed - Total cost $95.

Chris White called me one morning from Moorpark in Sourhtern California (93021) about his 5th Gen video iPod
While boating in Arizona he dropped his iPod into the ice chest which was filled about half way with thawed ice. He sent it in and I solved its problems. The files were still intact. I replaced the battery more because after 3 years it was the right time to do so.
The battery was $16 nad labor /return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $56.
