Melvin Harris reached me by phone from Heeton Arkansas (72843).
He had dropped his 120GB 6th Gen video iPod in an ice chest while fishing. The ice had melted leaving a pool of water. That was what the iPod became immersed in.
I covered how he should send it in and arrrived a few days later. I was able to get everything working but the logic board. That is an $80 part and brought the repair total to $120.
But it works again perfectly now.
Fixed - Total cost $120.

Patricia Amador called me. She lives in Sonoma California (95476)
and had dropped her Nano 3rd Gen in a swimming pool for about 10 seconds two weeks earlier. She brought the iPod to me and left it off with $40 to have me go through it.
I was able to get everything working but the scroll wheel. There was advanced corrosion at the IC on the ribbon connection. The scroll wheel and upper faceplate had to be replaced.
The part was $15 and labor was $40
Fixed - Total cost $55.

Fay Kenny called me from her home in Novato California (94945) one night about her son's 32GB 3rg Gen iPod Touch.
Her son had dropped it in the bath tub the night before. We all ask the same questions... "what could he possibly gain by using the iPod in the bathtub in contrapoint to possibly dropping it in the water and loosing it forever?"
As I understand it, he was playing a game on it.
The task was made more complex, by her wanting it to be done within two days so it could be given back to him working for his 8th birthday *and* the fact that her husband had no idea this had occurred at all. I don't know thye planned to keep that secret.
I went to work directly on it. This is a $300 device and a child's emotional life was at risk ;)
Late the afternoon of the morning it arrived I had it working again, completely... including the all important WiFi connection used for gaming on it.
The total cast was just $60
Fixed - Total cost $60.
