This is a water case from Union City New Jersey (07087). It started with an email that read,
"Hi Frank
I just came across your website....I have a 3rd gen Ipod touch that fell into a hot cup of tea a few hours ago...Do you think it can be saved?
Please let me know
Thanks a lot
Leila El Bashir"
I replied with,
"That sounds like something I can help with.
I'm not always sure I can make a Touch iPod work again, so "is it repairable?" and "what it might cost?" are impossibilities to know without trying. But I think on Planet Earth I am the guy most people rely on when they are serious about wanting to see if it can be made to work again. This is a task I seem gifted at." and concluded the message with send it in instructions.
Her reply,
"Hi Frank,
I just shipped out my ipod express mail today, so it should be there by 3pm tmrw.
Thanks again!
Leila"
This is a case where Express Mail overnight actually worked, but it cost her $30.
When I opened her 32GB iPod Touch 3rd Gen, things looked pretty bad> This is photo showing the corrosion all over the logic board. If you click on the image a larger detail image will appear and you see more detail.
but I kept at it and a few hours later had it working again perfectly. She relies on her iPod for contacts, calendaring, notes and 4100 pictures that were irreplaceable and a few other things, but hadn't sync'd recently so this was 'life saving'.
Another miracle performed, total cost to get her back with all the data working again was $60
When she got it back, she sent this message,
"I just got my iPod back! Thank you soooo much frank.... Ur a miracle worker!
Leila
